Sample Problem for solving the previous homework

     4      =  7
  n + 2       n

so now you cross multiply.

4 * n and 7(n + 2)

4n = 7n + 14

Combine the like terms

4n - 7n = 14, you have to make 7n negative because it switched sides.

-3n = 14, now solve as we have done before

n = 14/-3 or n = -4 2/3 or -4.667

November 7th Homework and Answers

Okay so tonight for homework, there were two different assignments.  If you were working on the "solving slope using a graph" worksheet, the answers are as follows:

1.  -7/9
2.  2/3
3.  -4/5
4.  -1/4
5.  2/5
6.  -3/2 or -1.5
7.  -5
8. undefined

If you were working on the adding integers page, please make up 5 problems that you think would be challenging- you must include positive and negative integers, as well as the solution to the problem.

November 4th Homework

You need to finish the worksheet from class about proportions.

Remember that I need to see ALL of your work.  Then correct it before class on Monday!

If there are problems that you cannot figure out, please try at least the first step and then we can over in class.  Also remember to skip over ones that are more challenging and come back to them at the end.

Answers:

  1. n= 12.5
  2. x= 4.2
  3. x= 15

  7. b= 5.667
  8. m= 9
  9. n= -0.21
  10. r= 5.66
  11. b= -35
  12. k= -14

Wednesday Nov. 2 Homework

Math Book Pg. 234 #23-34

Good Luck!

Slope Formula and Example

            y2-y2
slope= x2-x1

Remember that the points are always listed (x1, y1) (x2, y2)

Example:

(1, -19) (-2, -7)

First plug the numbers into the equation.

-7-(-19) = 12
-2-1         -3

Now simplify the answer, think, 12 divided by -3 equal -4.  The slope is -4.
